Mental Health Is As Necessary As Physical Health

Like you need proper care and medication when you are coping with some physical illness , in the same way people need proper attention , care and medication (if needed) while they are having some sort of mental illness.

Physical illness can affect your body, tissues, organs and organ systems ; in the same way mental illness affects the way you think, the way you feel and the way you react. it can have adverse effects on your sleeping cycle, eating and working.

Mental illness is also some kind of physical illness. One of the most devastating and damaging myths are that mental illness is not a physical illness. It affects your sleeping patterns, menstrual cycle as well as your thinking abilities.

People don't take mental illness as a disease ; which wanted to be cured just like other diseases. There is a lack of understanding by others. Many may believe the patient is at fault or is in control of their thoughts and say very insensitive statements like 'Have you ever tried not being depressed'??? I wanted to ask them ; 'Have they ever tried just not having fever, flu or some kind of skin infection'.

Responses like ' You just need to change your fame of mind and the way you think , then you will feel better' ; these responses seem very heartless and insensitive in such cases.

What if someone says you ' I got to know that you have food poisoning and all, but you have to at least make an effort , like the same way people say ' You just need to change your frame of mind , then you feel better.

There is a lot of public misconception with depression and anxiety as simply being "overly sad" when in fact the symptoms include chronic fatigue, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, persistent feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness.

So the thing we have to work on is simply that we need to know and understand that mental diseases are real , diagnosable and often treatable.

Consider mental illness as a proper disease and help yourself and others to feel okay if they are suffering from some sort of mental problem. Don't let them think that people might treat them differently. Do good and create easiness for others.
