Hardware

Nokia 6.1 is fully equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor with 3 or 4 GB RAM. This provides the leverage to users to wait for lesser time for apps to load and enjoy flawless device performance. You can use multiple apps at a time, without worrying for the device heating up issue or phone getting stuck in between.

Software

The Nokia 6.1 is part of the Android One, which fundamentally means it includes stock Android and timely updates. The Nokia 6.1 comes with fully-fledged Android 8.1 Oreo OS platform. The phone will receive regular security patches and two years’ worth of OS updates. The easy to use interface, curate set of pre-installed apps, unlimited high quality photos storage with Google Photos is major highlights. Regular security upgrades are received and 2 years of OS upgrades means Nokia 6.1 with Android One keeps the device secured to the fullest. Latest Google innovations are optimized for Google Assistant.

Design & Display

The Nokia 6.1 is built like a tank. The phone features unibody and is made from 6000 series aluminum with flat diamond-cut sides, rounded corners and a highlight color on the outlines. The Gorilla Glass 3-covered screen is here to last and support your device against all damages. The 5.5-inch 16:9 screen of the Nokia 6.1 is very smudgy, but it’s much less noticeable when the display is powered on.

Camera

The 16 MP solo cameras with dual tone LED flash is often the downside of a suspiciously cheap, good-looking smart phone. The device does not feature AI or dual-camera chops of competing handsets, but the Carl Zeiss lens and native Android camera app team up to take reliably great photos. 8 MP fixed focus selfie camera is there to click good selfies, with an optional beauty mode.

Battery Life

Nokia 6.1 (2018) has 3,000 mAh along with fast charging feature can surely last for long. An hour’s charge can increase the power by 40%; meaning charging is effectively twice as fast as on the 2017 edition.

If you stream a 90 minute full HD video in full screen with brightness on maximum, and accounts syncing in the background, from a full charge our Nokia 6.1 lost 23%.

Considering the previous version lost 22% in the same test, it seems fair to say that stamina hasn’t improved on the new edition in line with the speed of charging. Still, at least it won’t take as long to get back to full.

Verdict

Nokia 6.1 comes with many downsides that speak a lot about the quality. This is not expected from the device to this era.
The device does not come with wireless charging, a dual-lens rear camera, waterproofing or an 18:9 display, but nor do many of the other phones in its price bracket, and some of those are lacking even more basic features such as fingerprint scanners and NFC.
