Design
Huawei Nova 3i has an iPhone like notch. The metallic design has delicate appealing glass. It is said to be the toned down version of Nova 3. The device weighs in at 169g. With dimensions set at 157.6 x 75.2 x 7.6mm, it really is easy to carry in pocket and can be used with one hand.
Delicate yet appealing glass and metal design that looks much better than most of the competition. From the back, the Huawei Nova 3i looks noticeably similar to the Huawei P20 Lite. The P20 Lite phone has a relatively small chin, minimal side bezels, and a notch cut-out at the top of the display along with earpiece and front camera. So, the dimensions and weight differ on both devices. The Huawei Nova 3i is slightly broader and taller having certain amount of heft which adds to the durability.
Although the notch of this device does not have the iPhone X-like high tech camera array under the notch, it's still quite broad because of the dual camera setup. The screen-to-body ratio is 82.03% which seems almost bezel-less. There's a noticeable chin at the bottom, but it's also among the thinnest on phones of this range right now. Then we have other settings such as face unlock or finger print unlock option.
Face unlock and fingerprint sensor
The Face Unlock on the Nova 3i isn't that advanced and secure as that of iPhone X, but it sure is a better implementation than many other Face ID wannabe devices. It's quick and accurate. It takes a full second to unlock but that's when the phone is locked.
Display
The Nova 3i comes with edge-to-edge 6.3 -inch display with sharp and bright resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. The notch makes it an unusual or rather unorthodox 19:9 aspect ratio. An AMOLED panel hides the notch with deep black bands on both sides of the notch.
Camera
The Huawei Nova 3i features a 16 MP f/2.2 primary sensor with phase detection auto-focus and is coupled with a secondary 2MP monochrome sensor. The camera UI is a fully loaded app that offers various modes and settings for a minimalist. The camera has multiple modes: Aperture, AR lens which includes the emojis. You can use any filter you want. Next is portrait, photo, video and in the more settings there are other options for photographer lovers, such as pro, slomo, night, etc. and many more. Camera modes like Qmoji and 3D Objects are fun to play with, especially if you are creative.
On the front, the Huawei Nova 3i packs a 24MP primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor for depth sensing.
Battery Life
The Huawei Nova 3i packed with a 3340mAh battery which can suffice most users with basic day to day activities like phone calls, listening to music, streaming content through long social media pages periodically. The charging speed of Nova 3i is a little disappointing. The Kirin 710 chipset does not offer Huawei's 22.5W Super Charge and instead, it has 10W charging via micro USB available.
Software Interface
The Huawei Nova 3i runs on Android 8.1 Oreo platform. This is not the latest version of Google’s OS, but it's the latest major release. This actually doesn’t matter when it comes with EMUI 8.2.0 skin on top.
