Power Of Imagination

(Maryam Rehman, Karachi)

What is reality? What is the 'Real way to live? How should things work? The irony is that the answer itself lies in our imagination. Everything which is real was first conceived in the imagination.

The ultimate creative power is the power of imagination. Everyone possesses a certain degree of imagination ability that strengthens one's creative abilities and is a great tool for recreating and remodeling your world and life.

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." (Albert Einstein)

Imagination is one of the key to living a life on a new level. Before anything is manifested into existence, it is first dreamed and nourished in our imagination. Former Navy SEALS Commander, Mark Divine, says that "Before we win in reality, we need to win in our minds."

The world is a canvas on which we draw our life with creative use of imagination. It is truly magical to create unique things out of thin air. Reality isn't as pleasant as shown in media. The world is broken and is facing terrorism, poverty, child abuse, rapes, illness but we can create solutions to all problems and make a difference with the power of imagination.

Although imagination is not enough. If you are highly imaginative but have inadequate knowledge of the facts on the ground, you will likely to choose the wrong option. But we are capable of using our imaginations to think through a possible actions in a more disciplined way, by letting adequate background knowledge inform the development of the imagined scenarios.

The imagination itself also constitutes both, opportunities and dangers. Aware of opportunities and dangers within our control, we are better able to act in ways that tends to maximize the opportunities and minimize the dangers. In that respect, imagination is like other means to knowledge, which has the potential to be used for both good and bad ends. Since imagination is a means to knowledge, it inherits some of the instrumental value of knowledge. The more vividly we imagine it, the more likely it is to move us.
