Freedom of expression is the foundation of human rights

Freedom of speech and expression is a natural right which a person acquire on birth. Though as a human being we are always afraid to express our thoughts as what we are thinking is right or wrong, will society appreciate our feelings or not, these thoughts and feelings denied us to speak so therefore we also have to know that our country also allow us to express what we think as Article 19 of the constitution of Pakistan states that:
“Every citizen shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression, and there shall be freedom of the press, subject to any reasonable restrictions imposed by law in the interest of the glory of Islam or the integrity, security or defence of Pakistan or any part thereof, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency or morality, or in relation to contempt of court, 1[commission of] or incitement to an offence”.

So our country also allowed us to speak. Freedom of speech always helped in self accomplishment and in discovery of truth. Now we will be thinking that if every citizen starts to speak so it will be very difficult task for government to come over it, so there are also some restrictions as above mentioned in the article 19 as talking against religion, any law, any public order etc is prohibited.

Now how this right is beneficial for us, through speech we can convey our thoughts, sentiments and feelings to others. In Pakistan, it is true that we are facing many problems but what we are doing? just watching the news on television and discussing it among the family members and friends, every day we are passing through the same scenario, so why we are not speaking on it as a Pakistani it is the responsibility of the every citizen to speak against the negative aspects and if on daily basis we starts to speak, we should somehow able to resolve these problems. So we should speak, speak loud that every citizen unite with us. So here we should know our basic rights and try to adopt them because these rights because these are made for us.
