Cholistan Desert

Cholistan Desert is locally known as “Rohi” and covers the area of Bhawalpur, Punjab. It adjoins Thar Desert extending over to Sindh and into India. Cholistan desert hosts an annual Jeep rally, known as Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally which is the biggest motor sports event in Pakistan.


Thar Desert

Thar Desert is also known as the “Great Indian Desert”. It is the world’s 17th largest desert and the world’s 9th largest subtropical desert. The Thar Deserts spans an area of 175,000 square kilometers and covers large areas of Pakistan and India.


 

Indus Valley Desert

Indus Valley Desert is located in the northern area of Pakistan. The desert covers an area of 19,501 square kilometers and is surrounded by northwestern scrub forests. It is very cold in winter and very hot summer.It lies between two major rivers in the region, the Chenab and the Indus.


 

Thal Desert

Thal Dessert is located in Mianwali region of Pakistan between the Indus and Jhelum rivers. It is a well-established desert, water supply is also available for the people who live in Thal. A large canal-building project is currently underway to irrigate the land.


Kharan Desert

Kharan desert is locally known as “Sandy Desert”. It is located in Balochistan. Pakistan’s second nuclear test was conducted at a site in Kharan Desert.
