Girls secure top positions in SSC-II exams

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) announced the matriculation results on Tuesday, with the top positions being secured by girls.   The top three positions were secured by students of various educational institutions being run by the armed forces while students of Army Public Schools and Fauji Foundation in various cities bagged the first six positions. A total of 82,894 students appeared in the exam of which 65,890 passed. The pass percentage was recorded at 79.49pc with a 3.38 GPA. The results showed that the GPA and pass percentage of girl students was higher than that of boys. Manal Aamir from Army Public School and College for Girls, Peshawar Cantt, secured the first position with 1,032 marks from a total of 1,050 marks. Two students, Urooj Fatima from Army Public School and College Hyderabad Cantt and Aiman Gul from HITEC School and College for Girls Taxila Cantt, came second wth 1,031 marks. Three students from Army Public School and College for Girls in Lahore and Multan bagged the third position with 1,030 marks. These students are Areesha Ehsan, Hifza Saeed and Areej Musharraf. In the humanities group, the three positions went to students of the Fauji Foundation College for Girls in New Lalazar, Rawalpindi Cantt. Areej and Barira Sajjad, who are twin sisters, secured the first and second positions with 985 and 982 marks while Rabia Imran came third with 977 marks. The twin sisters said the credit for their success goes to their teachers who emphasised on concept clearing and creative writing. FBISE Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik said the trends in the results were the same as that seen in the last few years and that the pass percentage was gradually improving. Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman was the chief guest at the ceremony. The minister said FBISE was one of the best education boards of Pakistan according to many international surveys and that one should feel privileged to appear in an exam of this board. “A better board system, better exam settings and better exam checking systems lead to a better education system and we should be focusing on improving the education system in Pakistan,” he said.
