The University of Karachi is yet to declare the results of LLB part-II
examinations that were held in June last year.
About 600 students of the S.M Law College and the Government Islamia Law
College, both affiliated with the KU, are awaiting the results.
Speaking to Dawn, students said that they had been waiting for their results for
more than six months, but there was no announcement by the university over the
results’ delay.
“Whenever I contacted the university for this, I was told that the results will
be announced soon. All my friends are worried over the results’ delay,” said a
student of Government Islamia Law College.
KU controller of examinations Prof Arshad Azmi said that the delay was being
caused by the S.M Law College’s three teachers who hadn’t yet completed the
process of checking answer sheets.
“We are extremely sorry for the results’ delay but the university is not
directly responsible for that. The S.M. Law College officials, including their
principal, have been reminded repeatedly about the delay but their teachers are
yet to return the answer sheets,” he said, adding that once answer sheets were
examined and returned, the university would take at least 15 to 20 days to
announce the results.
A delay of six months, he said, was unusual and often LLB results were announced
within three months. Last year, the university had announced results of about
40,000 commerce students (regular) in two months.
