As the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek sit-ins against
the government continue in Islamabad, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE)
has rescheduled the reopening of the city’s government education institutions
overseen by it yet again.
Now, the schools and colleges in the city will resume classes on August 25.
The local educational institutions were originally scheduled to reopen on August
11 after two months long summer vacation.
However, the holidays were extended for one week until August 18 in light of the
anti-government sit-ins in the federal capital.
Since there is no end to sit-ins and even there are fears of violence in the
city due to them, the FDE has extended the reopening of the government schools
and colleges in the city to August 25.
The local privately-run educational institutions have also announced the closure
of their campuses for one more week on security grounds.
They, too, will reopen on August 25.
However, educational institutions in the adjoining Rawalpindi city will resume
classes today (Monday) after summer vacation as announced last week.
