Technical books launching at PU
THE launching ceremony of
two books “Quality Assurance in Higher Education: A Global Perspective”
based on 15 research papers edited by Dr Abdul Rauf and Dr Niaz Ahmad and
“Safety Management and Engineering: An Integrated Approach” written by Dr
Abdul Rauf was held at the Institute of Quality and Technology Management (IQTM)
of the Punjab University on Monday.According to a press release, Higher
Education Commission (HEC) Quality Assurance Adviser Dr Riaz Qureshi, PU
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dr Abdul Rauf, Dr Niaz Ahmad, Dr
Javed Ahmad, Dr Mehar Saeed, faculty members and a large number of students
were present on the occasion |

While congratulating the
authors of the books, Dr Mujahid Kamran said both books would help teachers,
professionals, practitioners and as well as students. He demanded the
government spend a few billions rupees on publishing books, which should be
available on subsidised rates in markets. Dr Riaz Qureshi said the practice
of writing technical books was rare in Pakistan as compared to India where
such books were available on cheaper rates. He said the Pakistan Book
Foundation was trying its level best with the support of the HEC to publish
technical books.
IQTM Director Dr Niaz Ahmad also presented a brief introduction of the
institute. Students registration with double fee : THE Punjab University
registration of private candidates appearing in BA/BSc Annual Examination
2009 with single fee has expired and now the registration will continue with
double fee till July 31, 2008.
According to a press release, registration forms are available at the
information cell at the New Campus and the prescribed branches of the Habib
Bank Ltd while they can also be downloaded from PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
PU Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has said that no institution or
academy has the authority to register private students. He said it was
better for students to write down their home addresses on the registration
forms and submit to the university because in the future the roll number
slips, result cards and degrees will be dispatched to the addresses provided
by them. |
