A new academic session commenced at the University of Karachi on Monday with the orientation day, held at all departments, according to a KU spokesman. New entrants were briefed by the chairmen of respective departments about the facilities to be made available to them at the institution.

They were also apprised of the rules and regulations of the university.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui’s statement welcoming the new students was also read out.

“Immense opportunities of access to knowledge are available in the present day era and students should take full advantage of these in order to equip themselves with the required capabilities to make rapid progress,” the statement said.
