College tests start, Camb results soon
KARACHI, July 26: Four institutions have
scheduled their admissions test within the week for which thousands of
candidates are expected to turn up for the undergraduate and postgraduate
programmes in medicine, engineering and business. The next few weeks are
also going to be crucial for students planning to go abroad. Exam results
for Cambridge International A Level, O Level and Cambridge IGCSE from the
June session will be released to staff at Cambridge centres on Aug 9. The
results will be released at 00:01 UK time. O Level students will be
scrambling to apply to the city's select A Level institutions and colleges
and A Level students will be packing their bags for college, some here, some
abroad. |

Sir Adamjee Institute, Indus Institute of Higher Education (IIHE), Bahria
University (BU) and Liaquat National School of Physiotherapy are the first
to have scheduled their admissions tests from July 26 to Aug 1 for the 2007
academic session. Also, the NCR-CET Intermediate College has also announced
July 31 as the date for its aptitude test for Intermediate students.
Sir Adamjee Institute's courses include a BBA (4 years) and MBA (2 years) in
the morning course. "More than 500 candidates have registered for the test,"
said an official. Its courses come under the University of Karachi
affiliation program and are academically managed by the Commecs Educational
Trust.
The Indus Institute of Higher Education (IIHE) deadline for admission forms
is today. It is offering BS, BBA and MBA in Textile and Fashion Design
degrees along with BBA, MBA, EMBA, MS/M.Phil and PhD degrees in Business
Administration. Students can also apply for the BE/BS, MS, B-Tech and M-Tech
degrees in Engineering Science.
Bahria University's (BU) deadline for forms is Saturday. For the Institute
of Professional Psychology, Karachi BU, admission forms can be submitted
till Saturday and the admissions test will be conducted on July 29, Sunday.
Other BU courses such as the Engineering Programs/BS (CS), MS
Engineering/Maritime Studies and MBA will have their tests on Monday.
Tuesday is scheduled for the entry test for the BBA/BS/BSS, BS
(Geology/Geophysics) and BS (Environmental Science) programmes.
According to the BU officials, admissions merit will be determined by giving
60 percent weightage to academic eligibility marks and 40 percent weightage
to the Bahria University Admission test ETC score as applicable.
The fourth institute to conduct admission test this week is the Liaquat
National School of Physiotherapy. It offers a two-year Masters Program (MSPT),
which is affiliated with the University of Karachi. The deadline for
application forms is Tuesday and the test is on Wednesday. Eligibility is a
four years Bachelors in Physiotherapy from the University of Karachi or an
equivalent with first division. Beside that, a student with a three-year
Bachelors in Physiotherapy with a one-year additional certificate course
from KU or the equivalent, can also apply. Daily times |
