THE WIND

Poet: Muniza Wasi By: Muniza Wasi, karachi

The wind howling with rage
slamming window’s shutters open
and thrashing on the thick curtains
crashing against closed doors
causing me to shudder
bending big tree boughs heavily
rolling cans in the lane
bringing down things with a crash
creating havoc afresh
the clothes hanging on the line
are scattered hither and thither
the cat sitting on the wall
scampered to hide beneath the bed
birds are flying above their nests
desperate to know what to do
I am standing midst of the scene
dried leaves are roaming everywhere.
