Ingredients
  1. 1 medium-sized chicken
  2. 3 cartons yoghurt
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 8 oz. onion
  5. 1-inch fresh root ginger
  6. 3 garlic cloves
  7. 2 green chillis
  8. Oil for frying
  9. ½ inch slice creamed coconut 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  10. juice of 1 lemon
Method
  • Joint the chicken. Place in a pan with the yoghurt and salt and cook gently until tender. Meanwhile, finely mince the onion, ginger, garlic and chillis. Fry the onion gently for 10 minutes. Add the ginger, garlic, chillis, coconut and poppy seeds and fry for a further 10 minutes. Add the chicken and continue to cook over a moderate heat for 10 minutes. Mix in the lemon juice. Serve with nan or chapatis.
