INGREDIENTS

4 drumsticks (Saijan Ki Phali)
1 tblsp oil
1/2 mustard seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
1 cup blank gram flour
a lemon-sized ball of tamarind in ½ cup water
2 tblsps jaggery
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp chilli powder

METHOD

Cut drumsticks (Saijan Ki Phali) into 3' pieces and boil in 2 cups of water.
When tender, drain, and reserve the water.
Heat oil, add mustard feeds, and when they begin to crackle, add asafoetida and flour.
Saute for 5 minutes. Strain the tamarind juice, and add this and the remaining ingredients to the reserved water.
Put in the drumsticks and cook on a slow fire till the gravy thickens.
Remove when done and server it.
