Ingredients
  1. 2 lb. haddock or cod steaks
  2. 2 onions
  3. 2 green chillis
  4. 1 ½ -inch fresh root ginger
  5. 2 cloves garlic oil for frying
  6. 3 tablespoons vinegar
  7. I stick cinnamon
  8. 2 cardamons
  9. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  10. Salt to taste
  11. FOR THE GARNISH
  12. I tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
Method
  • Wash the fish steaks; slice the onions into rings, finely mince the chillis, ginger and garlic. Heat a little oil and fry the onions until golden. Add the chillis, ginger and garlic and fry for five minutes.
  • Add the vinegar and remaining ingredients and simmer gently for five minutes. Add the fish and, if necessary, 1-2 tablespoons of water. Simmer until fish is cooked and the gravy is thick. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or bread.
