Hareesa Recipe

Hareesa is a Pakistani dish made with meat, porridge, pulses, and spices. It belongs to the family of Haleem and is popular dish for festival season. This Ramadan you can try our easy to make Hareesa recipe for Iftar dinner. You can make it for Dawat as well. Sprinkle some lemon and chaat masala before serving. It can be served with Roti/ Naan or even can be enjoyed with a spoon.

Ingredients
  1. Calf meat___ half kg
  2. Wheat porridge___ 250 grams
  3. Onion___ 1 bundle
  4. Salt, pepper___to taste
  5. Cumin seed___ as required
  6. Large cardamon___ as required
  7. Rice___ 250 grams
  8. Split pulse of mung___ 250 grams
  9. Garlic___ 10 cloves
  10. Seasoning___ as required
  11. Cinnamon___ a required
  12. Black pepper___ as required
Method
  • 1- Add all the things into a large earthen pot and add water to such extent that all the grains and meat becomes tender.
  • 2- Fire should be low and do not stirr too much. Leave to heat for 2 hours.
  • 3- When all the things becomes soft then grind it with the help of wooden
  • spoon hareesa is ready.
  • 4- While serving chop onion into fine pieces and red it in ghee and spread over it.
  • 5- Except of this garnishing add
  • 6- Chopped green chili and green coriander in it.
  • 7- Very delicious hareesa is ready.

The taste of hareesa is just like the haleem but haleem is much spicy than hareesa, although it is an energetic dish which is famous in asian countries.

I made Hareesa in Moharam month last year, it is a kashmiri dish and it is very similar to haleem and also taste like Haleem.
