Ingredients
  1. I cup moong dal (whole)
  2. 4. cup curd
  3. 2 green chillies (ground)
  4. a piece of ginger (ground)
  5. salt and turmeric to taste
  6. a lemon-sized ball of jaggery
  7. 1 tblsp oil
  8. ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  9. a pinch of asafetida
Method
  • Wash and cook the dal with 3 cups of water in is pressure cooker for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Add curd, ground chillies, ginger, salt, turmeric and jaggery. Boil for 5 minutes and stir.
  • Heat the oil, add the mustard seeds, and when they begin to crackle, add asafoetida. Pour over the dal, and serve hot with plain rice.
