Gilgit-Baltistan Girls Football League (GBGFL) season 4 is all set to start tomorrow in Gilgit. The action-packed tournament will be playing six day-long while the matches will be played during the daytime at 14:00 local time in the scenic venue of Chamangul, Gulmit.
The eight teams are participating in the event time which includes Baba-Ghundi Chipurspon, Passu Youth Football Academy, Shahi-Khyber Football Academy, Altit Baltit United, Brushal FC Yasin, Sartez Football Academy, Shah-Talib FC, and Mustazabad Royal Club. With the support of their parents and coaches, the girls will lock the horns with a fighting spirit and focus.
The GBGFL tournament has produced brilliant players such as Shimshali Ronaldo, Ambreena, with her agile goal scoring, and Marvi Baig, who showcased brilliant dribbling skills in the 2018 tournament. Some of the most prominent players in the 2021 tournament were Karina Zia, Irum, Saheefa, Haleema and Malaika.
The co-founder of GBGFL Karishma Inayat said: "It is a privilege for me to lead this league, the progress of the first three seasons has been commendable and I am hoping that this too, will be a part of the success streak. The only purpose of this league is to give opportunities to those young girls who rarely got a chance to shine in this field." She went on to say that it is the responsibility of sports organizations to create a future in sports for girls.
