Anti-polio campaign begins in parts of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan

 Anti-polio campaign, to vaccinate over children under the age of five, in 49 districts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan will start today.

According to detail, polio immunisation drive will be launched in 11 districts of Punjab including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Rawalpindi and Okara.

Anti-polio campaign will also begin in 22 districts of Sindh. According to sources, at least 2.2 million children under five years age will be administered anti-polio vaccine in Karachi alone.

All arrangement to start anti-polio campaign in Balochistan have been finalized. The polio immunisation drive will be launched in 16 districts of Balochistan including Quetta, Pishin, Jaffarabad and Naseerabad.

Levies, police and FC personnel will provide proper security cover to polio frontline workers in Balochistan during anti-polio campaign.

On the other hand, a five-day special anti-polio drive is underway in 18 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, from Friday, July 30.
