Imran Riaz Khan, senior anchor person and eminent supporter of the former PM, Imran Khan arrested from Islamabad on Tuesday. Riaz Khan currently linked with Express-News has charged with various FIRs on abetment and criticism on the state institutions.
In a recent viral video on social media, he advised journalists to perform their duties and raise questions. Khan said bail has been granted to him by Justice Athar Minallah so the arrest was unjustified. He said, “I do not care even if they kill me or imprison me, we are asked to still raise voices and perform their duties”.
The police officials said Imran was arrested in a complaint registered by a citizen Malik Mureed Abbas. The compliant was under the Electronic Crimes Act and six other sections. As per the FIR that the journalist tried to defame the state institutions.
Dozens of supporters have come out in support of Imran Riaz Khan. Various senior journalists and activists have followed the trend of an unjustified arrest including Arshad Sharif, Kamran Khan, Ammar Ali Jan, Azaz Syed, and many others.
