Myanmar military ruler promises to restore hold new multi-party elections

In Myanmar, the military ruler Min Aung Hlaing has again promised to restore democracy and hold new multi-party elections in the country.

In a televised address on Sunday, he said his government is ready to work with any special envoy named by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Meanwhile, ASEAN foreign ministers will meet tomorrow to finalize a special envoy tasked with ending violence and promoting dialogue between the junta and its opponents.
