مسجدوں کے صحن تک جانا بہت دشوار تھا
دیر سے نکلا تو میرے راستے میں دار تھا
دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے شہروں کی رونق بن گیا
کل یہی چہرہ ہمارے آئنوں پر بار تھا
اپنی قسمت میں لکھی تھی دھوپ کی ناراضگی
سایۂ دیوار تھا لیکن پس دیوار تھا
سب کے دکھ سکھ اس کے چہرے پر لکھے پائے گئے
آدمی کیا تھا ہمارے شہر کا اخبار تھا
اب محلے بھر کے دروازوں پے دستک ہے نصیب
اک زمانہ تھا کہ جب میں بھی بہت خوددار تھا
