All Pakistan SPEC 2010-Energizing The Future
The event was initiated in the year 2006 on a departmental scale and after
about 5 years of tireless efforts and undaunted persistence, from being an
inter departmental event, its horizons were broadened in the year 2008 when not
only participants from various departments of NED were included but various
teams from the renowned engineering institutions of Karachi also formed a part
of the event. In the year 2009, the electronic department was honoured to host
the biggest event that NED had housed in the year 2009. The radical change was
its expansion from an all Karachi to an all Pakistan level. 700 students from
over 20 universities of Pakistan participated and more than 5500 students with
50 corporate guests from various organizations visited the exhibition. Number
of competitions was extended from four to six with a significant category for
displaying research work and research papers.
Following the same traditions and similar zeal and zest that is characteristic
of team SPEC every year, students this year aim to expand it further. New
categories are added including the alternate sources of energy; a burning issue
in the country these days, while the older ones are amply enhanced.
Thus we hope that the excellence ascertained in the previous years continues
and SPEC 2010 become the largest engineering competition and exhibition in
Pakistan.
This year SPEC is inviting students from all over Pakistan in following
categories:
Hardware Competition:
Hardware competition is one of the most prestigious events held in SPEC 2010.
It engrosses all kinds of hardware projects related to Interfacing, Robotics,
microcontroller based automation, Analog and Digital projects. Hardware project
competition aims to provide a platform for the students to refine themselves in
the field of practical electronics, with innovative and interactive ideas. It
bridges the huge gap between academia and the industry so that the future
engineers can better cope up with the requirements of today’s fast pacing
world.
Alternate Energy Competition:
This competition is more towards social engineering by giving back to the
community by helping create highly scalable alternative energy solutions. Main
objective is to leverage the talent and entrepreneurism of students to create
useful and socially responsible solutions to the energy problems of today and
define opportunities for students to create solutions with social impact.
Make from Scratch:
Make from scratch is a unique segment in SPEC 2010 which encourages
participants to come forward with their talents and abilities to show their
creativity. Through circuit designing and its implementation students thrive to
enhance their capabilities and materialize their imagination. This in turn
helps in elucidating their decision making ability, time management and
presentation skills by making the best use of available resources. In this
competition the participants will find interesting tasks to complete within
short period of time and with very few available choices.
Call for Research Papers:
It will serve as a chance for those students, teachers and professors who are
engaged in research work to come forth and showcase their hard work. It also
provides a platform for conference organizers, journal publishers, researchers
and students to come together to discuss information resources that encourage
presentation and publication of research.
Raw Studios:
A short film and Animation competition Digitization incubates a whole new
genre of art. Raw studios provide a stage for all those raw talents waiting out
there to be exploited. So come forth and express your thoughts in form of a
short film with virtual and real characters. Put on your thinking caps, get in
your Raw Studio boots and let your ideas be known to the world.
Gaming:
SPEC 2010 welcomes you to the Counter Strike, Need for Speed and FIFA
tournament! The CS provides the opportunity to exhibit tactical and team
coordination skills in the world of First Person Shooter (FPS) games. Gear up
to engage in an epic battle of virtual world.
Career Counseling Seminar:
A seminar serves as an aid to envisage a bright and successful future in
terms of career and academics. The seminar will be conducted by industry
officials and revolutionary speakers.
We aspire to create a proper organizing committee to fulfill our plans but also
to provide students with a superior and enhanced platform in order to expand
their analytical and interactive skills. With high hopes and elevated
confidence, we aim to set the bar high by arranging a momentous event that
succeeds in speaking volumes by itself.
