LAHORE - Pakistan’s Haider Ali Rizwan and Hussnain Ali Rizwan annexed boys’ doubles title of Midcourt ATF Championships 14 & Under 2021 Leg 1 at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Friday.
Haider and Hussnain, brilliant students of LGS Paragon, played tremendous tennis against compatriot pair of Ahtesham Humayun and Asad Zaman and defeated them 7-5, 6-4 in an exciting final contest. The first set proved to be a clash of titans between both the Lahori pairs, who fought for each and every point and leveled the score at 5-all. Haider/Hussnain then held their nerved and won the first set 7-5. They continued their good show in the second set and won it 6-4, thus lifted the title.
In other matches of the day, in boys’ singles positions (3-4), Asad Zaman beat Hamza Ali Rizwan 6-1, 6-0, in boys’ singles positions (5-6), Ahtesham Humayun beat Darsheel Shrestha (NEP) 6-1, 6-0, in boys’ singles positions (7-8), Shehryar Anees beat Boris Adhikarari (NEP) 6-1, 6-0, in boys’ singles positions (9-10), Omar Jawad Malik beat Hussnain Ali Rizwan 7-6(5), 4-6, 10-3, in boys’ singles positions (11-12), Ali Zain beat Nishad Joshi (NEP) 6-0, 6-0 and in boys’ singles positions (13-14), Amir Mazari (Pak) beat Nabeel Qayum 6-4, 6-1. In the girls’ doubles semifinals, Haniya Minhas/Amna Qayum beat Soha Ali/Zainab Ali 6-0, 6-0 and Fatima Ali/Zara Khan beat Lalarukh/Mahrukh 7-6(2), 6-4. The boys singles and girls doubles finals will be played on today (Saturday).
Germans all set to vote for new parliament on Sunday
PLTA Secretary and former Davis Cupper Rashid Malik visited PTF Complex and witnessed some of the matches. He appreciated the efforts of PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan and PTF management for their continued efforts for promotion of tennis in the country. He was highly impressed with the professional conduct and organization of events one after other. He was also full of praise for Mrs Zaira Ahmad Zaka (Founder Midcourt) for her personal interest in conducting the Midcourt ATF Championships 14&Under 2021 in collaboration with the PTF.
