India Areports 42,625 new COVID-19 cases

The global death toll from the coronavirus infection has surpassed 4.245 million, while over 199.5 million cases have been detected, according to Baltimore, Maryland's Johns Hopkins University, which tracks and compiles data from national and local authorities, the media and other sources.

Currently, the US (35.2 million infected, 614,000 deaths), India (31.7 million cases, 425,000 fatalities), and Brazil (19.9 million cases, and a death toll of over 558,000) are reportedly the most-affected nations.

Meanwhile, the European Union is striving for a steady supply of COVID-19 vaccines to its member states and price is just one issue in negotiations with pharmaceutical companies, European Commission spokeswoman Vivian Loonela said.
