U.S. Defense Secretary and Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin has said that the Afghan security forces' first job is to slow the Taliban's momentum before attempting to retake territory.

Talking to reporters in Alaska, Pentagon Chief said Afghanistan's military is overhauling its war strategy against the Taliban to concentrate forces around the most critical areas.

Lloyd Austin said that the United States is set to end its mission in Afghanistan on 31st August.

He said that he believed the Afghans had the capability and the capacity to make progress, but we will see what happens.
