100MP Selfie Camera Smartphone Arriving This Year

The Megapixel count in smartphones is getting crazier with each passing launch. Mobile phone manufacturers seem to be fighting to introduce more and more Megapixels in their devices. All major brands have tried their best to pack the most amount of Megapixels in their camera sensors. We have already seen the transformation of 12MP Rear Cameras into a whopping 108MP. We also got to see the rise in front camera Megapixels to 32MP or even 44MP. But now, it has been tipped that the front cameras would get upgraded to 100MP this year.

The megapixel war is not going to end anytime soon. Back in 2019, Samsung and Xiaomi partnered to introduce the World’s first 108MP main sensor at the rear on Mi Note 10. The smartphone arrived with a Penta-camera setup on the back. The primary snapper was Samsung's 108MP HMX sensor, co-developed by Xiaomi to offer extremely high-resolution photographs. The South Korean giant also used the sensor later in their Galaxy S20 Ultra. We are used to seeing 100MP+ main camera sensors in flagship smartphones since then.

Now, a Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station took it to the Chinese microblogging Website Weibo and claimed that the 100MP (Probably 108MP) selfie camera is coming to illuminate your beauty. Unfortunately, the post does not mention any manufacturer and neither hint at the specific timeline. Keep in mind that the currently available 108MP sensors are quite large to fit in small notches or punch-hole displays. They must require a wide notch or pop-up modules to fit unless a manufacturer has built a smaller sensor. Apart from a 100MP selfie camera, phones with 200MP main cameras will also see the light of the day this year.
