Since 2019, there have been heated rumors and fights between two giants – Google Play Store and Huawei. Going back into last year and revisiting the cause of why it happened, Huawei has been in the mist of global tussle between US and China after the present government placed ban of the entity list of Chinese. This ban limits the US companies to do business that leads to worldwide implications. The result of this scenario was that Google blocked Huawei’s access to Google play store and they had to launch their Mate 20 without Google play store – yes, you read that right! No Google apps worked on the phone such as even Maps for Uber, Careem etc. |

Due to this one major setback, Huawei suffered a great deal, so the company wants to remain prepared in 2020. Reports suggest that the Chinese tech giants will join hands with other renowned brands such as Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo to compete as a team against Google Play Store, according to a report by Reuters. Oppo and Vivo are owned by BBK Electronics and they are willing to work together to maintain their personal application stores – a place where application developers can directly publish the app at. If you have been an Android user for quite some time, you can’t help but notice that every brand has their own branded store as well. There is App Market, Vivo App Store, Xiaomi Market, and Gallery Store and so on…

This recent merger, as said by Reuters will be called (GDSA); the Global Developer Service Alliance as they will join forces to encourage more developers to upload apps onto their markets. Hmm, smart move! News started circulating few days back and is all expected to launch in March. It could be a breakthrough for Chinese brands as a huge dependence will be reduced from Google. Well, the other way around, it could even lead to a declining business for Google as well as these four local brands are extremely popular among people, especially in Asian countries. So it might hurt their sales a little as well! President Donald Trump blacklisted Huawei last May with an executive order for allegedly having links to the Chinese government. The ban bars Huawei from using US technology, including Qualcomm chips (though most of Huawei's processors are made in-house) and Google software. The overall Huawei, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi sales accounted for 40% of all the global sales in the last year. |
