Trade Show IFA 2018 is making news for all the right reasons. Chinese
technology brand Huawei is expected to unveil its most talked about
Kirin 980 chipset in the event. It will be the first 7nm chipset to be
launched in market. Huawei’s CEO has already confirmed that the Kirin
980 chipset will be the first ever chipset made from 7nm.

Leaked Details of Kirin 980 Chipset
Some earlier rumors unveiled the key details about the much awaited
Kirin 980 chipset. Some screenshots have been shared by Chinese online
publication showing Huawei Kirin 980. According to the benchmark tests,
Kirin 980 is expected to come with an Octa-core processor in which four
cores will be of Cortex A77 and four cores will be of Cortex A55.
The test results also highlighted that the A77 cores clocked at the
speed of 2.8 GHz, while the speed levels of Cortex A55 are not known
yet. RAM details listed online are LPDDR4X with Mali-G72 MP24 GPU. This
GPU feature is expected to be 1.5 times faster, and more powerful when
compared to Adreno 630 GPU.
The Adreno 630 is used by Qualcomm, chipset maker for its high-end
processors such as the Snapdragon 845. The benchmark listing also
revealed that the Kirin 980 processor will consist of second-generation
NPU. This ensures that the chipset will have the ability to deliver AI
features just like the Snapdragon 845. The Kirin processor is also
expected to support triple ISP which fastens the process of image
processing.

Huawei is quiet excited to unveil this state of the art Kirin chipset.
The company has already shared invites for its event on August 31, 2018
in Berlin. At the event, Huawei officials are expected to launch Kirin
980 chipset along with its flagship Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei Mate 20
Pro devices. Both the devices are expected to be powered by Kirin 980
processor.
