Mega revenue of 1.2 trillion dollars is expected to land for Huawei in the next few years from Pakistan and other South Asian countries. Ever since the U.S. accused Huawei as a spy for Chinese government, the battle has only continued to rise, hinting no sign of recovery. Huawei has ceased its avant garde development of 5G networks to initiate in the United States whereas sales of Huawei have itself slowed down in the entire region. However, countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Siri Lanka seem to be inviting enough for the Huawei brand and are being marked as Huawei’s first 5G markets. |

India has shown apprehensions over the U.S. accusation of Huawei being a Chinese Government’s spy, for which the brand will be mitigating the rumor. Huawei’s Southeast Asian spokesperson told the Nikkei Asian Review, “Go digital, not political, is a choice that serves the interests of all stakeholders, we will try our best to complete the trial for customers and work together with industry partners to push forward the 5G ecosystem.” After the US asserted its allies to not to use Huawei services and products, the Chinese tech giant saw a decline of 1.3 percent in its sales, however the Southeast Asian region became a treasure trove for Huawei which boosted an increase of $105 billion in 2018. Huawei will be only allowed to conduct 5G trials in India after the Government is done mitigating all of the security issues, says Prabhu Ram, Indian head of industry intelligence at CyberMedia Research. Pakistan is holding a warm welcome for Huawei’s 5G network concept, currently, and is expecting to launch the network system by 2020. In a statement, Huawei said, “In the past decades, Huawei has carried out extensive and intensive cooperation with governments and operators, and we keep bringing innovative, leading, secure and reliable products to all countries and help them build the most advanced and secure connection services.” The targeted countries are bringing forth expected revenue of $1.2 trillion to the country, in the future years after having launched 5G network. Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka are expected to launch 5G services at the end of 2020 while Bangladesh is expected to launch the services somewhere in 2021. Though we think Pakistan should scrutinize the accusation’s stand for Huawei’s misuse of customer information acting as Chinese spying company, we also welcome the development to accelerate its progress in our country.
