Embracing phone artificial intelligence, Huawei is certainly is cutting
edge of smart phone development in modern world. But how did it all
started? To answer that question we have to rewind back to a brief
outlook of Huawei.
Huawei, a Chinese multinational conglomerate is renowned globally for
its technology and multinational networking equipments. It took three
decades for Huawei to grow into a world leading telecommunication
provider with $75 billion annual sales. Huawei started off by
manufacturing phone switches, but later it expanded its operations to
tablets, fixed broad band networks, consultancy and managed services,
and multimedia technology. Huawei started its smart phone business quiet
late in 2010 but is still able to make an impact in the market within
short time. With a huge family of 180,000 employees Huawei has its
presence in 170 countries. Occupying 20% market share, Huawei is China’s
leading and ranked as world’s third largest mobile phone manufacturer
after Apple and Samsung.
Huawei – A Technology brand

World knows Huawei as a mobile manufacturer, however the brand is much
more than that. The company thrives on its technology products that are
derived after massive efforts of R & D.
Huawei manufacturing division is known for manufacturing white
label products for content service providers. This wide and extensive
product line include wireless modems, wireless routers for mobile WI-FI,
wireless gateways, fixed wireless terminals, USB modems, video products,
handsets, set-top-boxes, and embedded modules.

Various products like tablets PCs, Huawei Smart watch, and IDEOS smart
phones are manufactured under “Huawei” brand name. Recent top notch
Huawei devices include Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design,
Huawei P10,Huawei P10 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Mate 8, and Huawei
Union to name a few.

Huawei take pride in being the only Android smart phone manufacturer to
use its own ‘Kirin chipset’ manufacturer by Huawei owned company
HiSilicon.
Kirin chipset is a new generation hyper fast mobile chipset equipped
with advanced SoC architecture and leading production technology,
incorporated application of single chip processor (AP), and
communication processor (Modem). This chipset has mind blowing effects
in terms of device performance and help the mobile phone intelligence
for a faster and smooth device experience by improving the energy ratio.
Kirin 970, HUAWEI's first mobile AI computing
platform
Huawei CEO has made a revolution in the future of artificial
intelligence by launching world’s first processor with a dedicated NPU,
Kirin 970. No doubt these chipsets are immensely powerful, packed in
latest technology, and ensures perfect smooth performance on all Huawei
handsets.
The Kirin 970 using a 10nm process sports an Octa core processor with a
12-core GPU manufactured by TSMC. The chipset is equipped with four ARM
Cortex-A73 cores running at the frequency of 2.4GHz and four ARM
Cortex-A53 cores running at the frequency of 1.8GHz. This chipset is
also the first commercial SoC to use the Mali-G72 second generation
Bifrost-based GPU from ARM.
The chipset Kirin 970 is the first SoC to have a dedicated Neural
Processing Unit (NPU) features a total of 5.5 billion transistors into
an area of only a cm². The heterogeneous computing architecture of Kirin
970 chipset as compared to a quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU cluster, delivers
up to 25 x performances along with 50x more efficiency. The Kirin 970
chipset can perform all the tasks faster consuming less power. For
instance, an image recognition test was conducted, and Kirin 970
impressed the spectators with 2000 images processed per minute, which
was far efficient than any other chip in the market.
Smart CPU Allocation
Huawei is smart enough to prioritize your apps according to its usage by
dedicating big cores to run high priority apps, and small cores run low
priority apps.
AI Vision Engine: AI Camera
|
 |
A smarter camera with deep intelligence, Huawei has won the hearts with
dual rear sensors with Leica SUMMILUX –H lenses. Top notch hardware, and
software although play its part in capturing best ever photos. But
nothing can be taken away from the EMUI 8.0 Vision Engine. It helps in
analyzing what camera sees and alters every detail including color,
contrast, brightness and exposure in order to get perfect click.
The AI camera also recognizes objects, and alters the shooting strategy
accordingly. For instance if you are pointing the Huawei Mate 10 or
Huawei Mate 10 Pro at a dog, flower, or a person, or even a scenic view,
the Vision Engine can recognize 13 different scenes and objects
automatically.
In a Nut Shell
Huawei has won the battle through its smart phone innovation strategy.
The latest Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Pro represent the phone
artificial intelligence at its best. Packed with advanced processor and
Kirin chipset to handle AI tasks faster with far less power, Huawei has
not failed to amuse.
The EMUI 8.0 software bridges the gap between the native EMUI experience
and an exciting new piece of hardware, Kirin 970’s neural network
processing unit (NPU).
