Oppo’s Patent in Progress: Pop-Up Displays and Side-Sliding Phones to be launched

Sources have reported that Oppo on January 29th held a patent published with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) regarding their avant-garde take on smart phones and having two displays newly conceptualized; Pop-up and Side-slider designs.

A foldable form-factor was also seen in one of the images. Notably, the patent was applied for back in April 2018.

The concept is much identical to Vivo’s recent Pop-up selfie camera development which mounts up from the top. Likewise, the Pop-up display screen will be working in Oppo’s upcoming and mysteriously-rumored new phone range. Side sliders will be sliding from the sides of these phone gadgets i.e. phone within a phone. It is still much blurry to imagine, how exactly these phone will be making a final show. Having layers in disguise might thicken the phone’s body and we might transcend to old and typically-sliding Nokia phone age. However, Xiaomi, Lenovo and Honor are taking the concept serious and might throw similar phones in near future.

Till yet, we find this news quite fascinating.

Oppo hasn't officially confirmed the presence of its slider smartphones. However, the company is currently engaged in bringing up the launch of the Oppo Reno (again, a pop-up selfie camera phone) that is set to host its premiere on April 10.

Oppo’s newly conceptualized models appear to have a system for bringing out a second display panel. Will the phone-within-a-phone concept be revolutionizing our preferences for phone-use-criteria in next 5 years?
