Realme C100 Looks New But it is Not an Upgrade

Realme has quietly launched the C100 in Thailand, and on paper, it looks familiar. Same big battery, same chip, similar camera. But once you compare it with the older C85, things start to feel off. This doesn’t look like an upgrade. It looks like a step back.

Did Realme Just Downgrade Durability?

Here’s the first red flag. The C85 came with IP69K protection, which is rare in this price range. The new C100 drops to IP64. That means less protection against water and dust. For everyday users, this matters more than it sounds. One accidental splash or dusty environment can make a difference over time.

The Display Looks Smooth, But There’s a Catch

Realme kept the 6.8-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate. So scrolling and animations will still feel fast. But brightness drops from 1200 nits to 900 nits. Outdoors, especially in Pakistan’s sunlight, that difference is noticeable.

Also, the punch-hole design is gone. The older C85 looked modern. The C100 brings back a U-notch, which feels outdated right away.

Selfie Camera Takes a Hit

This one is simple. The front camera goes from 8MP down to 5MP. If you use Snapchat, WhatsApp video calls, or Instagram, you’ll notice softer details and weaker clarity. It’s a small change on paper, but visible in real use.

Same Performance, No Real Upgrade

The Dimensity 6300 is back again. It handles daily apps fine. You can scroll, stream, and even play games like PUBG on medium settings. But since it’s the same chip, there’s no improvement in speed or gaming. If you expected better performance in Realme C100 price in Pakistan, you won’t get it here.

Design Changes That Actually Remove Value

Realme removed the Ring RGB notification light. That feature made the C85 stand out. Now it’s gone. On top of that, the phone is thicker at 8.9mm. Not a huge jump, but noticeable if you’ve used slimmer phones.

Battery Still Strong with One Useful Addition

The 7000mAh battery is still the highlight. You can easily get up to 2 days of use. Charging stays at 45W, which is decent for this segment. Realme also added reverse charging and bypass charging. This is actually useful, especially if you game while charging or need to top up other devices.

The Only Real Upgrade: New Software

The C100 runs Android 16 with Realme UI 7. That means better security, updated features, and longer software support. This is the only area where the phone clearly improves.

Price in Thailand and What It Means for Pakistan

The base model starts at around $215, which is roughly PKR 60,000. At this price, users will expect better value. And that’s where the problem starts. Because the older C85 still offers stronger features in key areas.

The Bigger Issue No One Is Talking About

Here’s the real concern. When a new phone removes features instead of improving them, it affects buyer trust. People compare specs more than ever. And in markets like Pakistan, value decides everything. The C100 might struggle, not because it’s bad, but because it’s not better.

Should You Buy It or Skip It?

If you already have the C85, skip this completely. If you’re buying new, the C100 still gives you solid battery life and smooth display. But with the downgrades, it’s hard to recommend confidently. You’re better off waiting or choosing something that actually moves forward, not backward.
