What Are SIM Owner Details?
SIM owner details are basically the information linked to a mobile SIM card. It covers the full name, the CNIC number, and the mobile network of the person who actually registered that SIM in the first place.
In Pakistan, each and every SIM card needs to be registered with a valid CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card). This requirement is set by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). So nobody is permitted to operate an unregistered SIM, or a SIM that is fake-registered, not even if it seems close enough. When you check SIM owner details, you are basically asking: "Who is this SIM registered to?"
You can check:
- All SIMs registered on your own CNIC.
- Which network a specific mobile number belongs to.
- Whether a SIM was registered with biometric verification.
4.8M Unauthorized SIMs Suspended by PTA in January 2026
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has suspended over 4.8 million unauthorized SIMs in January 2026, and yes, it seems like a lot, because it is. These illegal SIMS have been put on hold for a bunch of reasons, but the big theme is pretty consistent: they were not authorized in the first place.
- SIM card registered to an expired CNIC.
- SIM card connected to a deceased person.
- SIM card activated without any biometric verification or authentication.
- SIM card used by a foreign citizen or foreign counterpart that did not have the appropriate documentation.
- SIM card that has been dormant and inactive for an extended period of time.

Biometric Verification Status (BVS) Check
This method lets you confirm whether a SIM was registered using your actual fingerprint (biometric verification) or not.
If a SIM was registered on your CNIC but without biometric verification, that is a major red flag. It likely means someone registered it using a copy of your CNIC without your physical presence.
Rs.22.5 Billion Lost to SIM Fraud in Pakistan (2025)
In 2025, a total of Rs. 22.5 billion, about US$ 270 million, was apparently lost to scams built around SIM fraud in Pakistan, and it happened via different channels like:
- SIM swaps
- Fake SIM signups
- Unauthorized duplicate SIMs
- Misuse of one-time passcodes sent to the original registered number of the account holder, or to the person who owns the duplicate SIM.
Fraudsters usually follow a kind of recognizable rhythm: they try to secure a duplicate SIM under the name of the real target, and then they take control of the phone number tied to that target. After they get hold of the victim’s number, the attackers can push for a password reset for the victim’s bank account, mobile money wallets, email services, and more. From there, they can pull money out of the victim’s account or gain other access before the victim even notices.
Some people who were hit by SIM fraud might have faced only small setbacks, but many others ended up losing several million rupees because the fraudulent behavior was directed at them in a sustained way.
