Founded in 2001, originally incorporated Sony Ericsson Communications was a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson. In 2011, Sony acquired the stake of Ericsson making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony thus rebranding itself and eliminating the name Ericsson from their future products.
The reason for Sony Ericsson’s enormous success was the company’s strategy to release mobile phones capable of digital photography. Sony Ericsson's first few devices including a digital camera were Sony Ericsson T610, P800 UIQ, and K700.
In 2005, Sony Ericsson launched the K750i which was considered one of the best devices of its time due to the 2MP camera and a miniature joystick. Sony Ericsson Walkman series first phone W800i changed the way of listening to music, as it was the first Walkman phone capable of playing music for up to 30 hours.
