Ibn Abbas narrated: I saw the Messenger of Allah prostrating for (Surat) Sad. Ibn Abbas said: It is not one of the resolute prostrations.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ فِي ص . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَيْسَتْ مِنْ عَزَائِمِ السُّجُودِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ. وَاخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَى بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ فِيهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّافِعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهَا تَوْبَةُ نَبِيٍّ وَلَمْ يَرَوْا السُّجُودَ فِيهَا.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سورۃ ص میں سجدہ کرتے دیکھا۔ ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں: یہ واجب سجدوں میں سے نہیں ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اہل علم کا اس میں اختلاف ہے، صحابہ وغیرہم میں سے بعض اہل علم کی رائے ہے کہ اس میں سجدہ کرے، سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک، شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ کا بھی یہی قول ہے۔ اور بعض کہتے ہیں کہ یہ ایک نبی کی توبہ ہے، اس میں سجدہ ضروری نہیں ۱؎۔
