Anas bin Malik narrated that: The Prophet said that (a Hadith similar to no. 970).

وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ وَلْيَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي . حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے کوئی ہرگز کسی مصیبت کی وجہ سے جو اس پر نازل ہوئی ہو موت کی تمنا نہ کرے۔ بلکہ وہ یوں کہے: «اللهم أحيني ما كانت الحياة خيرا لي وتوفني إذا كانت الوفاة خيرا لي» ”اے اللہ! مجھے زندہ رکھ جب تک کہ زندگی میرے لیے بہتر ہو، اور مجھے موت دے جب میرے لیے موت بہتر ہو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
