Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, Name yourselves after me (by my name), but do not call yourselves by my Kuniya, and whoever sees me in a dream, he surely sees me, for Satan cannot impersonate me (appear in my figure). And whoever intentionally ascribes something to me falsely, he will surely take his place in the (Hell) Fire.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَصِينٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : سَمُّوا بِاسْمِي ، وَلَا تَكْتَنُوا بِكُنْيَتِي ، وَمَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَتَمَثَّلُ فِي صُورَتِي ، وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا ، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ .

ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ابوعوانہ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ابوحصین نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوصالح نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”تم میرے نام پر نام رکھو لیکن تم میری کنیت نہ اختیار کرو اور جس نے مجھے خواب میں دیکھا تو اس نے مجھے ہی دیکھا کیونکہ شیطان میری صورت میں نہیں آ سکتا اور جس نے قصداً میری طرف کوئی جھوٹی بات منسوب کی اس نے اپنا ٹھکانا جہنم میں بنا لیا۔“
