حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَبِيبٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طَارِقٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَعْطَاهَا ابْنُهَا حَدِيقَةً مِنْ نَخْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَاتَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ ابْنُهَا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا أَعْطَيْتُهَا حَيَاتَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَهُ إِخْوَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ هِيَ لَهَا حَيَاتَهَا وَمَوْتَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِهَا عَلَيْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ذَلِكَ أَبْعَدُ لَكَ .

Urdu Translation

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انصار کی ایک عورت کے سلسلہ میں فیصلہ کیا جسے اس کے بیٹے نے کھجور کا ایک باغ دیا تھا پھر وہ مر گئی تو اس کے بیٹے نے کہا کہ یہ میں نے اسے اس کی زندگی تک کے لیے دیا تھا اور اس کے اور بھائی بھی تھے ( جو اپنا حق مانگ رہے تھے ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ باغ زندگی اور موت دونوں میں اسی عورت کا ہے پھر وہ کہنے لگا: میں نے یہ باغ اسے صدقہ میں دیا تھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: پھر تو یہ ( واپسی ) تمہارے لیے اور بھی ناممکن بات ہے ( کہیں صدقہ بھی واپس لیا جاتا ہے ) ۔

English Translation

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم decided a case of a woman from the Ansar to whom an orchard of date-palms was given by her son. She then died. Her son said: I gave it to her for her life, and she has brothers. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: It belongs to her during her life and after death. He then said: I gave a sadaqah (charity to her. He replied: It is more unexpected from you.
