Govt notifies major increase in driving license fees
According to the notification, the fee for learner licenses has been substantially raised from Rs300 to Rs1,000. For obtaining a full driving license, individuals will now have to pay Rs3,000. However, there is a silver lining for Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers, as the PSV license fee has been reduced to Rs10,000.

In a move that may irk motorcycle riders, the fee for motorcycle licenses has also seen a steep hike, now standing at Rs10,000. Additionally, applicants will be required to pay a digitization fee of Rs2,000 for each type of license.

This decision has prompted concerns among the general public, especially among those aspiring to obtain driving licenses. While some argue that the increased fees may deter individuals from obtaining licenses, others express frustration over the sudden financial burden.

It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the overall process of obtaining driving licenses and whether any adjustments will be made to address the concerns raised by citizens.

Earlier, the federal government announced a significant increase in driving license fees through a recent notification, affecting both motorcycle and vehicle owners across the country.

The latest notification outlines a substantial rise in driving license fees, impacting individuals seeking licenses for motorcycles as well as small and large vehicles. The license fee for these categories has been increased by 25%.

Individuals opting for urgent license issuance will now be subject to an additional Rs2,000. Furthermore, the notification specifies new charges for the mandatory driving test, with applicants for small vehicles required to pay Rs300 and those applying for licenses for large vehicles facing a fee of Rs500.
