Want to know if your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is still under warranty? Apple gives you a free tool to check warranty online. It is called Check Coverage, and it is the only place with live data straight from Apple.
How to Do an Apple Warranty Check
- Go to checkcoverage.apple.com.
- Enter your device’s serial number.
- Complete the security check.
- Press Submit to see your result.
You can also sign in with your Apple ID instead of typing a serial number. This shows coverage for every device linked to your account at once.
Where to Find Your Serial Number
- On iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings, then General, then About, and look for Serial Number.
- On Mac: Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac.
- No device in hand? Check the original box or your purchase receipt.
One detail from Apple’s own support page: a real serial number never uses the letter O or I. It only uses the numbers 0 and 1. A leading “S” on a box barcode is not part of the number.
What Your Apple Warranty Check Shows
Once you run an Apple online warranty check, you will see:
- Valid Purchase Date: Confirms Apple has your purchase on file.
- Telephone Technical Support: Free call-in help, active for 90 days from purchase.
- Repairs and Service Coverage: Shows if your one-year hardware warranty is still active.
- AppleCare+: Shows if you have extended coverage and when it ends.
If Your Device Shows No Coverage
This does not always mean your warranty is gone. It can mean the purchase was not registered, or the device was bought secondhand. Contact Apple Support directly to confirm your exact status.
A Few Things to Know
- A warranty check Apple tool only works with genuine Apple serial numbers.
- Never post your serial number in public. Scammers can misuse it.
- Coverage details may take a short time to appear after a new purchase.
This check takes less than a minute. You get the same answer Apple’s own support team sees.
