Sahih Bukhari 3898 - The Merits Of Al-Ansar

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ هُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّةِ فَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى دُنْيَا يُصِيبُهَا أَوِ امْرَأَةٍ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا , فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى مَا هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے مسدد بن مسرہد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حماد بن زید نے بیان کیا، ان سے یحییٰ بن سعید انصاری نے، ان سے محمد بن ابراہیم نے، ان سے علقمہ بن ابی وقاص نے، بیان کیا کہ میں نے عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ   میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرما رہے تھے کہ اعمال نیت پر موقوف ہیں۔ پس جس کا مقصد، ہجرت سے دنیا کمانا ہو وہ اپنے اسی مقصد کو حاصل کر سکے گا یا مقصد، ہجرت سے کسی عورت سے شادی کرنا ہو تو وہ بھی اپنے مقصد تک پہنچ سکے گا۔ لیکن جن کا ہجرت سے مقصد، اللہ اور اس کے رسول کی رضا مندی ہو گی تو اسی کی ہجرت اللہ اور اس کے رسول کے لیے سمجھی جائے گی۔

English Translation

Narrated `Umar: I heard the Prophet saying, The reward of deeds depends on the intentions, so whoever emigrated for the worldly benefits or to marry a woman, his emigration was for that for which he emigrated, but whoever emigrated for the Sake of Allah and His Apostle, his emigration is for Allah and His Apostle.
