حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ الصَّلْتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ فَأَتَوْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّكَ جِئْتَ مِنْ عِنْدِ هَذَا الرَّجُلِ بِخَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَارْقِ لَنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَوْهُ بِرَجُلٍ مَعْتُوهٍ فِي الْقُيُودِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَقَاهُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ غُدْوَةً وَعَشِيَّةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكُلَّمَا خَتَمَهَا جَمَعَ بُزَاقَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ تَفَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَأَنَّمَا أُنْشِطَ مِنْ عِقَالٍ فَأَعْطَوْهُ شَيْئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَهُ لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ كُلْ فَلَعَمْرِي لَمَنْ أَكَلَ بِرُقْيَةٍ بَاطِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَقَدْ أَكَلْتَ بِرُقْيَةٍ حَقٍّ .

Urdu Translation

خارجہ بن صلت کے چچا علاقہ بن صحار تمیمی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   ان کا گزر ایک قوم کے پاس سے ہوا تو وہ لوگ ان کے پاس آئے اور کہا کہ آپ آدمی ( یعنی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) کے پاس سے بھلائی لے کر آئے ہیں، تو ہمارے اس آدمی کو ذرا جھاڑ پھونک دیں، پھر وہ لوگ رسیوں میں بندھے ہوئے ایک پاگل لے کر آئے، تو انہوں نے اس پر تین دن تک صبح و شام سورہ فاتحہ پڑھ کر دم کیا، جب وہ اسے ختم کرتے تو ( منہ میں ) تھوک جمع کرتے پھر تھو تھو کرتے، پھر وہ شخص ایسا ہو گیا، گویا اس کی گرہیں کھل گئیں، ان لوگوں نے ان کو کچھ دیا، وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، اور آپ سے اس کا ذکر کیا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ( بے دھڑک ) کھاؤ، قسم ہے ( یعنی اس ذات کی جس کے اختیار میں میری زندگی ہے ) لوگ تو جھوٹا منتر پڑھ کر کھاتے ہیں، آپ تو سچا منتر پڑھ کر کھا رہے ہیں ۔

English Translation

Kharijah bin al-Salt quoted his paternal uncle as saying that he passed by a clan (of the Arab) who came to him and said: You have brought what is good from this man. Then they brought a lunatic in chains. He recited Surat al-Fatihah over him three days, morning and evening. When he finished, he collected his saliva and then spat it out, (he felt relief) as if he were set free from a bond. They gave him something (as wages). He then came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and mentioned it to him. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Accept it, for by my life, some accept it for a worthless charm, but you have done so far a genuine one.
