Gautam Gambhir expects Babar to shine in World Cup 2023

During an interview, Gambhir expressed his belief that Babar, with his impressive technique, is likely to achieve three or four centuries during the tournament.

"The kind of technique Babar Azam has, I think he will score three or four centuries for Pakistan in this World Cup," Gambhir said.

Last week, Gambhir had lauded the exceptional talent of Pakistan skipper, expressing confidence in his ability to set the World Cup ablaze with his skills. He had emphasized that Babar's quality is unmatched, when compared to compatriats.

"Babar Azam has that every quality that he can set this World Cup on fire. I have seen very few players who have alot of time to bat. I believe that there is Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root and David Warner but Babar Azam has different level of quality," Gambhir said.

Babar Azam, the current top-ranked ODI batter, boasts an impressive track record, having played 108 matches for Pakistan. His remarkable statistics include 5409 runs in 105 innings, with an average of 58.16. With 19 centuries and 28 fifties to his name, Babar Azam holds the distinction of being the fastest to reach 5000 ODI runs, achieving this milestone in just 97 innings, surpassing Hashim Amla's previous record of 101 innings.

ICC Men's World Cup 2023 is set to begin from October 5 in India and Babar will lead the national side by kicking off their campaign from October 6 against Netherlands.
