Mark Chapman’s unbeaten century leads New Zealand to a thrilling T20 victory over Pakistan

New Zealand secured a thrilling victory against Pakistan in their five-match T20 international series, thanks to Mark Chapman’s unbeaten century. Chapman’s sublime performance helped New Zealand chase down a target of 194, and level the series at 2-2.

In Rawalpindi, Mark Chapman’s stunning performance with an unbeaten 104 runs off just 57 balls on his first-ever T20 international century. Chapman’s impressive knock led the Black Caps to a remarkable victory by six wickets over Pakistan.

The chase of 194 by New Zealand against Pakistan in the T20 international series is now their second-highest successful chase in T20s. The record for their highest successful chase remains at 202-5, achieved against Zimbabwe in 2012.

Jimmy Neesham played an exceptional role in supporting Chapman as he smashed 45 runs off just 25 balls. Together, they created history by establishing the highest fifth-wicket partnership in men’s T20 internationals, scoring an unbeaten 121 runs off just 58 deliveries.

In the five-match T20 series, Chapman set a record by scoring the highest number of runs, finishing with a total of 290 runs.

Pakistan’s opener, Mohammad Rizwan, narrowly missed out on his second T20 international century. He scored an unbeaten 98 runs off 62 deliveries. The team’s total of 193-5 made possible by the valuable contributions of Iftikhar Ahmed. Ahmed scored 36 runs off 22 balls. Imad Wasim, who smashed 31 runs off just 14 deliveries, propelling the hosts to an imposing total.

Pakistan started the series on a high note by winning the first two games. Their winning streak halted when New Zealand claimed a close four-run victory in the third game. Unfortunately, the fourth match abandoned due to a hailstorm. Looking ahead, both teams will now lock horns in a five-match one-day international series.

In September 2021, canceled the Kiwi’s tour due to security issues. But now an extra tour has added to make up for the missed opportunity.
