PSL 9: Shan moves to Karachi Kings, Faisal Akram joins Multan Sultans

In this trade, Pakistan’s current Test captain, Shan Masood, will join the Karachi Kings' squad. In exchange, Karachi Kings bid farewell to left-arm wrist spinner Faisal Akram along with their first pick in the diamond round and first pick in the silver round.

Shan Masood initially joined Multan Sultans during the 2018 season and made his PSL debut in 2019 against Karachi Kings. He also led Sultans to top the league stage in the 2020 season and qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. He has amassed 1,318 runs in 42 matches and his presence also played a pivotal role in Sultans' title win in 2021.

Earlier, the Kings traded their last edition's skipper Imad Wasim to Islamabad United in place of Hasan Ali.

“PSL 5 winning captain Imad Wasim will don Islamabad United colours in the ninth edition of the tournament. Imad, who was named as the All-Rounder of PSL 8, has been snapped by Islamabad United in the Platinum category,” the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a brief press release.

“Hasan Ali (Diamond category) moves to Karachi Kings. By virtue of this player trade, Karachi Kings have received Islamabad United’s first round silver pick in exchange for their second round silver pick,” it added.

The draft of PSL season nine will take place at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

PSL 9 is tentatively scheduled from 8 February to 24 March 2024.
