Federal Interior Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, due to a cardiac arrest. He had been unwell for the preceding four days and was receiving medical treatment at the hospital before his passing. He was in the process of being transferred to a hospital due to his worsening health. Tragically, Abdullah Khan Sumbal passed away while en route to the hospital.

Federal Secretary Interior and former Chief Secretary Punjab, Abdullah Sambal, received his final resting place at the graveyard in Lahore Cantt after the funeral prayer was held at Habib Masjid Tufail Road on Thursday. The funeral ceremony was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Caretaker Federal Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman, various political figures, high-ranking officials, and a large gathering of mourners. Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi also paid a visit to Abdullah Khan Sumbal's family, offering his condolences and expressing deep sorrow and regret to the deceased's father and son.

The late Interior Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal funeral prayers, who passed away due to food poisoning after a brief illness at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Lahore, took place at 5 pm at Habib Masjid located on Tufail Road, Cantt, as reported on Thursday following the Asr prayer.
