Ajit Anantrao Pawar was a senior Indian politician from Maharashtra. He was a multiple-time Deputy CM of Maharashtra. He was most recently serving alongside Eknath Shinde under CM Devendra Fadnavis from December 2024 until his death. He was known as “Dada” in Baramati, and he was regarded as one of the most powerful leaders in western Maharashtra.

Ajit Pawar Plane Crash
The Ajit Pawar plane crash took place on January 28, 2026, during a chartered Learjet 45 flight operated by VSR Aviation. The aircraft was flying from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai to the Baramati airstrip.
The plane reportedly tried to land a second time on Runway 11 but became unstable near the runway. It came down about 100 feet short, went off course, crashed into an open field, and then caught fire. All five people on board, including Ajit Pawar, his PSO, an attendant, the pilot, and the first officer, died at the scene.
