Amjad Farid Sabri was a Pakistani qawwal and naat reciter. He was the son of qawwal Ghulam Farid Sabri. He modernized classics like "Tajdar-e-Haram" and "Bhar Do Jholi." His voice was later sampled on Coldplay's 2019 album "Everyday Life." After his father's death, Amjad led the family's music. His final performance was "Aaj Rang Hai" on Coke Studio in 2016.
The Amjad Sabri biography shows that he was born on December 23, 1970, in Karachi’s Sufi family. He began qawwali training at 9 and first performed on stage with his father and uncle in 1982. He formed his own group in 1996 and released his first album in 1997. He was shot dead by gunmen in Karachi on June 22, 2016.
